One of the projects we had hoped to accomplish this year was the double chip sealing of Stagecoach between Singletree and Surrey. Unfortunately, due to the timing of the bidding & contractor response, and the onset of colder weather, County Public Works has postponed the project until next spring.

One project we're still pursuing is improving the ditching on portions of Britchen and Cantle, filling the deep chasms with riprap to slow the erosion. We had intended to get the riprap from George Reed, and The Road Committee has been investigating the use of prison labor to save costs. George Stevens gave us a contact at CalFire who we called. CalFire said at the end of the fire season they would be able to do the work. We were then advised to contact the prison in order to find out if they had a workforce that could do the work cheaper. When we spoke with the prison we learned that working through state bureaucracy would take a great deal of time with possibly no result. So, we're back to waiting for the availability of CalFire work crews.
